My authentication test isn't logging in correctly. What should I do?

Authenticated testing allows Beagle Security to access areas of your application that require user authentication. If authentication is not working as expected, there are several common areas you should review.

Verify your authentication configuration

Beagle Security supports multiple authentication methods, including:

  • Recorded Login

  • Signup

  • Third-Party Login

Ensure that the authentication method selected matches the way users normally access your application.

For example, applications that use social sign-in providers should typically use the Third-Party Login option rather than a standard login configuration.

Review your recorded login sequence

If you are using Recorded Login, verify that the login sequence was captured correctly.
Common issues include:

  • Missing username or password fields.

  • Missing button clicks.

  • Incomplete login steps.

  • Recording the wrong workflow.

When creating a recording, review the captured steps carefully to ensure all required actions were recorded.

If there are any additional steps after entering the username and password, such as selecting an option from a dropdown or performing any other required actions, include those steps in the recording as well.

Verify your two-factor authentication (2FA) configuration

If your application uses two-factor authentication (2FA), ensure that it has been configured appropriately for authenticated testing.

If 2FA is enabled but not configured correctly, Beagle Security may not be able to complete the login process, causing authentication to fail.

Replay the recording

If available, replay the recorded sequence to verify that the login process completes successfully.

Before replaying the recording, ensure that you are logged out of the application so that the login process can be executed from the beginning.

Successful playback can help confirm that the recording contains the required authentication steps.

Verify that the application opens correctly during recording

When creating a Recorded Login sequence, Beagle Security opens the application in a dedicated browser window for recording.

Complete the login process within the browser window opened by the recorder to ensure the correct authentication flow is captured.

Check for recent application changes

Authentication workflows can change over time. If your login page, authentication process, form fields, or third-party authentication flow has changed since the configuration was created, the existing configuration may no longer work correctly.

In these situations, update or recreate the authentication configuration.

Verify test credentials

If test credentials are being used, ensure that:

  • The username is correct.

  • The password is correct.

  • The account is active.

  • The account is not locked or expired.

Invalid credentials are one of the most common causes of authentication failures.

Still experiencing issues?

If authentication continues to fail after reviewing the configuration, recreate the authentication setup and verify each step carefully.

If the issue persists, contact the Beagle Security support team via live chat or email us at support@beaglesecurity.com and provide details about the authentication method being used along with any relevant screenshots or error messages.
