Step 1

Method A: Test your own web application

  • Choose the option Test your own web application and press Continue.

  • Enter your project name, application name and website URL in the given fields.

  • The next step is the domain verification. You have two methods to do this, either a DNS verification or a file upload.

  • Complete the domain verification following the instructions given, after which you’ll be taken to the Beagle Security dashboard.

Your application is now ready for testing.

  • Now to add your own application, navigate to Applications, click on +New and select application.

  • Choose the type of application you want to test. (Website, API or GraphQL)

  • The next step is the domain verification. You have two methods to do this, either a DNS verification or a file upload.

  • Complete the domain verification following the instructions given.

Your application is now ready for testing.

Step 2: Starting your test

  • In the case of Method A, once you reach the Beagle Security dashboard, a pop in window appears where you can start your first pen test on your newly created application. In Method B, go to your newly created application, and click on Start test, which opens a pop up window.

  • By default, you can start a test immediately by clicking Start test without configuration. This runs a black-box security test against the target.

You can also configure additional options before starting the test, such as:

  • Authenticated testing

  • Technology stack

  • Scenario recording

Note: Adding authentication or application specific context allows Beagle Security to test parts of the application that are not publicly accessible. This is commonly referred to as gray box testing and typically provides deeper coverage than a standard black-box test.

Step 3: Track test progress

  • Open the Testing tab to monitor the progress of your scan.

  • The dashboard shows the current test status and updates as the assessment runs.

Step 4: Get notified when the test is complete

When the test finishes, you’ll receive:

  • An email notification

  • A notification inside the Beagle Security dashboard

Step 5: View your results

  • Now navigate to the Result tab.

  • Click Show result to view the findings from your security assessment.

  • From here, you can review vulnerabilities, severity levels, affected URLs, and remediation guidance.

That’s it. You’ve completed your first penetration test with Beagle Security.
