Two-factor authentication (2FA) allows you to add an extra layer of security to your Beagle Security account.

There are two authentication methods available to set up 2FA:

  • Authenticator app

  • Email

Two-factor authentication using authenticator app

To set up 2FA using an authenticator app:

  1. Click your profile dropdown on the top right and select Settings

  2. Click on Security from the side menu

  3. Choose Two-factor authentication

  4. Click on the Set up option next to Authenticator app

  5. Download an authenticator app like Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator or Authy and scan the QR code available on your screen

  6.  Click on Next and enter the 6-digit code generated from your authenticator app

  7. Click on Verify to complete the set up process

2FA using authenticator app will be enabled on your account. When you log in the next time, you'll need to enter your password and then a code generated from your authenticator app on your smartphone.

We have tested the following authenticator apps, but others should work as well:

Important: We recommend enabling the backup codes option as well when you set up 2FA using authenticator app. This will allow you to avoid potentially being locked out of your account.

Two-factor authentication using email

To set up 2FA using email:

  1. Click your profile dropdown on the top right and select Settings

  2. Click on Security from the side menu

  3. Choose Two-factor authentication

  4. Click on the Set up option next to Email

  5. Enter the email address on which you would like to receive the verification code every time you log in to your account

  6.  Click on Send code to receive the code on the email address

  7. Enter the code and click on Verify to complete the set up process

2FA using email will be enabled on your account. When you log in the next time, you'll need to enter your password and then a code sent to the email address you've added for 2FA.

Important: We recommend enabling the backup codes option as well when you set up 2FA using email. This will allow you to avoid potentially being locked out of your account.

Note: It is recommended to enable at least two authentication methods. It will allow you to access your account when you are having trouble logging in to your account.

Enabling backup codes

To enable backup codes:

  1. Click your profile dropdown on the top right and select Settings

  2. Click on Security from the side menu

  3. Choose Two-factor authentication

  4. Click on the Set up option next to Backup codes

  5. Click on Get new codes button to generate a set of backup codes

  6.  You can Download or Copy the backup codes. Keep them safe so that you can use them to access your account

If you would like to disable two-factor authentication, you can do so by going to SettingsSecurityTwo-factor authentication and toggling the radio button to disable it. You can also delete any 2FA method by clicking on the delete icon next to it.
